When I signed up for my coaching accreditation, I assumed it would simply formalise what I’d been doing informally for years, supporting friends and colleagues through tough moments.
Humbled, I quickly realised what I’d been doing was less coaching and more advising and mentoring.
With my background as an international restructuring accountant – and as a parent vastly outnumbered by my 4 children – I was hardwired for solutions. I’d dive straight into problem-solving mode.
Helpful? Absolutely.
Coaching? Not quite.
Here’s the difference:
🔹 Mentoring/advising is about sharing what you know.
🔹 Coaching is about helping others unlock what they know.
I learned that a great coach knows when to ask, listen, and collaborate, rather than rush to solving.
After all, we all have different strengths, values, and ways of working, what’s right for me might not be right for you.
✅ Why do Olympians, tennis champions, and top CEOs rely on coaches? Not because they lack skill, but because the best performers know they can’t see everything alone. Coaching helps them clear the noise, unlock sharper thinking, and continually push to reach new levels of performance and impact.
As an Executive Coach, I’m not here to hand you answers, I’m here to help you uncover your own, in a way that feels natural and authentic to you.
When it serves your growth, I offer insights that challenge your thinking, expand your vision, and fast-track your progress.
